Course content
|
The teaching of the course in the combined form summarises these topics in individual teaching blocks: 1. The Third Republic - form, conditions, direction 2. February 1948, the Communist Party's monopoly of power and its consequences 3. The 1950s - repression and illegality 4. The gradual relaxation of conditions and the Prague Spring of 1968 5. Communist "normalisation" 6. The collapse of the communist regime and the disintegration of Czechoslovakia Students engage in self-study on topics covered in the literature and in the course outline, as well as on tasks assigned in the full-time part of the course and on the basis of individual consultations with the teacher, also carried out electronically.

Learning outcomes
|
The second instructional cycle begins at the end of the Second World War, continues through the Cold War, and culminates in the collapse of communist regimes. The aim is to gain a general overview of the wide range of contemporary issues, a more detailed knowledge of the scholarly literature, and to place the Czech development within the context of the Bolshevization of Central and Eastern Europe. This primarily concerns the transformations in the political, economic, social, and cultural development of communist Czechoslovakia. Students once again choose the seminar topics themselves according to their interests. After home preparation, a discussion on the chosen topic follows; "academic debates" between students are encouraged, as is the effort to get closer to the essence of the matter.
The listener is able to critically evaluate relevant literature and sources, is able to formulate and defend his/her own opinion, is oriented in the main problems of the time, including methodologically and heuristically.
