Learning outcomes
In the course, doctoral students, in consultation with their supervisor and the course supervisor, choose a topic that, in the broader context of the development of the history of philosophy, science and education, will elaborate the issues that are the subject of their doctoral project. The output is then a final written thesis, which is consulted during its production and finally defended before a committee. The second part of the defence must demonstrate knowledge of the main currents, trends, schools and personalities in the history of philosophy (with an emphasis on the philosophy of history) from antiquity to the 20th century, including the history of Czech philosophy. The aim of the course is to demonstrate the ability of PhD students to view the topic of their PhD thesis in a broader context, while the orientation in the history of philosophy, history of science and education is assumed and tested as a prerequisite for such a grasp of the problem.
