Course content
Topics: 1) Terezín, its character and function before the formation of a ghetto 2) Terezín - establishment of the ghetto, transports from and toTterezín, Terezín as a place of survival, liberation 3) Terezín then - coping with consequences , an idea of establishing a memorial after the WWII, life in Terezín in present days 4) Small Fortress - frequently forgotten history related to Terezín site A) Winter classes will be carried out in a form of an e-learning course. Students will fulfill their lessons, where they will work with resources and special text. Each lesson will be finished by a test. At the end of the winter term students will have to pass major credit test which will also be an output of the seminar. B) In summer part of the term students will have their practical training in Terezín Memorial. Here they will learn about the function of the Memorial, about its resources, about work of local experts etc. As an output students will produce a paper in a form of public lecture on assigned topic folowed by a final colloquium with teachers and heads of practical training. Students will also fill in a questionnaire relationg to practical training.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce students into the issue of interpretation of history of holocaust, to present them work with resources of a personal character and work with memory. At the same time students should learn about the function of Terezín Memorial , its material basis and a way of work.

Prerequisites
Students are required to have at least elementary knowledge of German language and to work with paleographic materiál. He/she is supposed to be interested in history of the 20 century and in work with a "memory" of nation and of an individual.
