Course content
- formation and genesis of municipal establishment in central Europe - town law and collections of law - municipal institutions and offices - functioning of a municipal office - social structure of urban population - economical activities of population of towns - disasters and crises - character of a towns network in the lands of central Europe - political position of towns and its change in the course of time - relationship of towns and space and society behind the town walls - migration among towns in the end of Middle Ages and in Early Modern Times - the Thirty Years´ War and towns

Learning outcomes
Social, economical and legal relationships within town community reflected in town collections of law and act production of municipal offices in the period of Middle Ages and Early Modern Times in the Lands of the Bohemian Crown and other central European countries.
Students will understand genesis and development of towns and town administration in Central European space in the period of Middle Ages and Early Modern Times. Moreover they will get familiar with the specific methodology of work with resources used for research of towns and urban society. Students are also given an overview of the newest literature on the subject, about the currents state of research focussing on the history of towns, about various approaches to this subject and about projects relating to the given issue.
