Course content
The approach we have chosen is based on today usually zero knowledge of Latin language. In the course for beginners the choice of methods and aids comply to the needs to acquire the most elementary grammar rules. It is suitable to utilize already acquired knowledge of modern languages within study of Latin. The attention is paid to the function of Latin as a support for language study. Latin is considered to be an instrument of general philological improvement and a base of both general and specialized terminology. Moreover it can be perceived as an instrument for development of formally logical thinking.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is that students have a grasp of basic lexical and grammar rules of Latin, enabling them to work with simple Latin sentences. The must is a good command of selected vocabulary along with the ways of work with Latin text, dictionary and grammar handbooks.
Basic knowledge of Latin terms and simple sentences.
