Learning outcomes
|
Since the early Middle Ages, Jews had been active in the social, political and cultural history of the Czech lands. Through the reading and interpretation of literary and journalistic texts, the seminar will present literary (self-)representations and debates concerning Jews as a confessional and national group in the context of loyalty and identification with a gradually nationalizing environment, with a brief look back at the tragic outcome of their mutual coexistence in the years 1938-1945.
- student obtains basic knowledge about Jewish-Czech-German relations - student begins to orient himself on the perspectives of research - student learns to analyse historical sources and handle secondary literature
