Course content
Within this examination also the adequacy of the language performance at the levels B2-C1 according to the CEFRL, making use of the form of coherent oral performance. The student will have to cover one of the given themes in the stylistic form, agreed on beforehand, in the linguistic, literary-cultural and historical areas. The Oral Part consists of three sections: 1) In the area of German linguistics the student proves his knowledge of professional terminology and his ability to apply theoretical knowledge as well as practical competences in phonetics and phonology, morphology, syntax, lexicology, stylistics and textual linguistics to the concrete text which serves as a basis for a discourse concerning partial themes from the above-mentioned disciplines. 2) In the area of literary science /literary scholarship/ the student proves his knowledge of basic literary theoretical notions and literary genres, his ability to find orientation in both the history of the German-language areas in German-language literature in the Czech lands with a focus on mutual intercultural relations from the Enlightenment until the present day. He will also have to prove his ability to interpret a literary work on the basis of his knowledge of literary theory and cultural and historical context on one example selected from the submitted reading list. 3) In the cultural and historical area the student proves his/her knowledge of history and realia of the German-language area (i.e. the historical, geographical, political and cultural survey ) in the context of European cultural history with an accent on Czech-German or Czech -Austrian intercultural relations. The defence of the bachelor thesis is part of the State Final Examination.

Learning outcomes
The main aim of the State Final Examination is to check and confirm theoretical knowledge in the area of German Linguistics, Theory and History of Literatures of the German Language Areas and in addition to that the evaluation of cultural, historical and political survey concerning the countries of the German-Speaking Areas with respect to their influences on the Czech environment and on their mutual intercultural penetration and enrichment.
The graduate from this department is capable of expressing his/her ideas in the German language, correctly, clearly and at the corresponding stylistic level either in the common speech or in the written form. He is capable of providing information, giving a lecture, presenting a paper, conduct discussion and debates in his/her professional sphere. The graduate has a good orientation in Czech-German relations not only at the political, historical and geographical level, but also at the artistic and historical level (in particular the knowledge in literature, art and music). The graduate has comprehensive knowledge of the German language and its subsystems (i.e. phonetic and phonological, orthographic, morphosyntactic and lexical). He is also aware of its functional and social variants and has basic knowledge of and orientation in stylistics and textual linguistics. The graduate from this department of German is capable of explaining literary phenomena and developmental trends in a wider literary and cultural context with regard to Czech-German, Czech-Austrian or Czech-Swiss relations and is also able to incorporate literature written in the German language into those connections, or apply the terminology of literary scholarship and properly interpret a literary work.
