The seminar deals with the question of education in the multiethnic and multicultural Czech lands between 1918-1945. The main topic will be Czech-German relations. The central question is whether and how education influenced Czech-German society in two different political regimes. Is there a certain continuity between the democratic school system of the First Republic and the National Socialist school education introduced under conditions of terror and war?
- debating about multicultural communities - dealing with national stereotypes - distinguish between totalitarianism and democracy in the school environment - discussing the issue of language teaching in history - critical reflection on continuity and discontinuity in education - work with historical sources - participating in a lecture in German - improving communicative competence
