Course content
Introduction to the theory of professional translation. Specifics of professional and popular educational texts - German original 2. Specifics of professional and popular educational texts - Czech original 3. Translation strategies, procedures and methods. Practical training; analysis of translated texts I. 4. Terminological equivalence and search possibilities. Working with glossaries, printed and electronic dictionaries. Practical training; analysis of translated texts II. 5. Typography. Practical training; analysis of translated texts III. 6. Revision of the translation. Practical training; analysis of translated texts IV. 7.-14. Learning outcomes
The aim of the seminar is to deepen the knowledge of the basic translations and to familiarize students with the specific features of translation of technical texts (mainly technical, economic and legal) and popular texts, both from German into Czech and from Czech into German. In the seminar will be analysed and discussed the key translation procedures, the grammatical and stylistic principles of the translation work, the specific features of the construction of individual professional and popular educational texts and the issue of terminological equivalence.
Students - are familiar with the basic translation procedu-res and the specific features of translating the professional and popular text, - are able to apply this knowledge while translating authentic texts, especially from technical, economic and legal areas.
