Course content
1. Introduction, assignment of papers 2. Fairy tales and legends: Characteristics and development of the genre (Volksmärchen, Kunstmärchen) 3. Fairy tales and legends: Analysis and interpretation of selected texts 4. Fairy tales and legends: The motif of Faust (legend and its further literary elaboration) 5. Ballads and fables: Characteristic features and development of the genre 6. Ballads and fables: Analysis and interpretation of selected texts (e.g. Goethe, Schiller, Heine, Lessing fables) 7. Short story: Characteristics and development of the genre (especially Kurzgeschichte) 8. Short story: Analysis and interpretation of selected texts(e.g. Kafka, Borchert, Bichsel) 9. Short story: Analysis and interpretation of selected texts II (e.g. Grass, authors of intercultural literature) 10. Song: Characteristic features and development of the genre 11. Song: Analysis and interpretation of selected texts (e.g. Ode an die Freude, political song, pop, Rap) 12. Concrete poetry and poetry slam: Characteristic features of genres and interpretation of selected texts (Wiener Gruppe, Jandl, "slam stories" by Konečný, etc.)

Learning outcomes
The aim of the seminar is to deepen the knowledge of the history of German literature acquired in the bachelor's study programme and to develop the ability to interpret a literary text in the cultural-historical context of the time, taking into account the specific features of the literary genre (Fairy tale, legend, fable, balad, short story, song modern forms of poetry).
The student will gain an overview of the development of selected genres in the field of prose and poetry and is able to analyse specific literary texts with regard to both their cultural and historical context and the main features of the respective genres. In addition, he can recognize and use their potential for teaching German.

- active participation in seminars based on reading the required literature, - oral presentation with PPT presentation on a partial topic of the subject - a written work on the chosen genre (characterisation and development on the example of two chosen texts from different literary epochs or periods)
