- basics of democracy didactics: Introduction to the central concepts and principles, such as democracy as an educationa goal, participation and value formation - democracy in the classroom/learning space: Methods and approaches to promote participation and co-determination in learning processes. - dealing with controversy and diversity of opinions: Strategies for shaping discourses and promoting critical thinking in the context of social diversity - practical approaches and reflection: Development of concrete teaching projects or approaches to promoting democracy as well as reflection on one's own pedagogical attitude.

Learning outcomes
|
Participants should develop a deeper understanding of democratic values and principles and how can be conveyed in educational processes. They should reflect how democratic skills can be promoted and how democratic structures can be designed in learning settings. In addition, the seminar is intended to encourage people to critically question and strengthen their own role as teachers in promoting democratic education. Ultimately, the participants should be enabled to implement democratic education in a practical and sustainable manner in different contexts.
Through the course students acquire in-depth knowledge of the fundamental principles and goals of democracy education, including participation, controversy and value formation. You develop the ability to promote and critically reflect on democratic processes and structures in education settings. The students learn to deal constructively with diversity of opinions and conflicts and to shape discourse in the learning space democratically. They also gain practical skills to implement democratic education through innovative and participatory methods in different contexts. Finally, they strengthen their ability to critically question and further develop their own role and respnsibility as teachers with a view to promoting democratic values.
