Course content
- Basics of Austrian culture, history, geography and society with a focus on gender perspectives and regional diversity. - Analysis of the achievements of Austrian women in science and art and their social significance. - Discussion about the influence of Austrian women in political movements, social change and the development of democratic structures. - Reflection on regional diversity in Austria and the role of women in strengthening cultural identities in a global context.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the seminar is to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the cultural, historical, geographical and social characteristics of Austria. The seminar further focuses on achievements of Austrian women in various fields. The students will thus develop the ability to critically reflect on complex relationships within Austria, including gender specific context. In addition, the seminar promotes sensitivity to regional diversity and identity as well as their importance for society. The seminar also serves to expand intercultural skills.
Students in this course will acquire in-depth knowledge of the cultural, historical, geographical and social structures of Austria, especially with regard to gender-specific perspectives. They will learn about and critically classify important contributions by Austrian women in science, art, politics and society. In addition, they develop the ability to analyze complex relationships between gender, regional identity and social development. The course increases the awareness of the importance of diversity and gender equality in different social and cultural contexts. Additionally, students will learn how to present their acquired knowledge in multimedial dimensions and design their own podcasts.
