1. Modern German history of literature from an intercultural perspective 2. Multilingualism, influence of the language change on literary language and so-called intercultural language 3. Learning outcomes
The course is theoretically based on the "Introduction to Intercultural Literary Studies" and focuses on intercultural literature as one of the main trends in contemporary German-language literature. As the developments since 2000 in particular show, the literature of authors with a migration background and intercultural themes is becoming increasingly important (the award of the Nobel Prize for Literature to Herta Müller in 2009, the nomination for the Deutscher Buchpreis) and contributes significantly to its thematic and stylistic enrichment. The aim of the seminar is to analyse selected literary works of contemporary NJO literature from an intercultural perspective and at the same time to reflect on the specificities of intercultural literature in the context of migration literature, with special reference to post-2000 literature.
At the end of the course students are expected to - get an overview of the development, authors, themes, genres and specific features of so-called Intercultural literature, - be able to analyse and interpret literary works from the perspective of intercultural literary science.
