1. Introduction to textual linguistics, its development and individual trends in German and Czech environment 2. The term "text" and criteria of textuality. Text function and structure: cohesion and coherence 3. Text and style, functional styles in the Czech and German contexts 4. Methods of text analysis, contrastive text analysis German-Czech 5. Communication area of public communication, case studies in the field of economics and administration, legal communication 6. Professional communication, case studies - "expert article" and "popular scientific article" 7. Communication in the field of mass media: case studies "report" and "commentary", "review" and "report" 8. Communication in the field of online media 9. Final contrastive analysis of German and Czech texts

Learning outcomes
Learning outcomes of the course is to provide basic thematic areas of text linguistics in the Czech-German intercultural context. The course summarizes basic text linguistic knowledge, presents and confronts selected text types in German and Czech, especially text types from mass media, professional and public communication. Students are also familiar with methods of the textual and stylistic analysis.
Students are familiar with the basic topics of text linguistics in the intercultural Czech-German context. They are able to identify text types, especially text types from mass media and from professional communication. Students are able to analyse texts, applying appropriate methods.
