Learning outcomes
The course introduces students to the cultural theoretical texts necessary for understanding European cultural history. The seminars will therefore relate cultural theoretical texts to the understanding of German Studies as a type of Culture Studies, in particular to questions of cultural and other identities, alterity, and interculturality. In doing so, attention will be paid to those phenomena that have defined European identity from antiquity to the present.
Students will be familiar with basic cultural theoretical texts on European cultural history and will be able to work with the arguments postulated in them.
