Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to deepen linguistic knowledge in the discipline with a focus on the didactics of phraseology and further expand the phraseological competence of students. In class, students will get acquainted with the characteristics of idioms, their classification, paradigmatic relationships in phraseology, as well as with the stylistic and communicative-pragmatic aspects of these linguistic means. The focus is on the pitfalls of working with idioms in teaching and creative and effective phraseo-didactic methods, which students apply to specific proposals for teaching for the purposes of teaching in high school.
The student is able to characterize the typical features of phrasemes (idioms) and distinguish them from non-phraseological units, can define different types of phrasemes, is aware of the pragmatic and textual potential of phrasemes, including the pitfalls associated with their use in a foreign language. He is also aware of effective methods of working with phrasemes (idioms) in the course of teaching at relevant types of schools and is able to apply them in his/her teaching practice.
