Course content
1.-2. The most significant problems of Czech students trying to maintain the codified norm of German pronunciation (in case of bachelor program focused on education). 3.-4. Phonetic description of German sounds related to the standard pronunciation (in respect to training methods of productive and receptive pronunciation) 5. Co-articulation and its manifestation. 6. Structuring of a speech continuum. 7. Syllable, syntagma, sentence. 8. Word accent. 9.-10. Intonation in a German sentence - melody, accent, phrasing. 11.-12. Further prosodic tools. 13. Phonologic relevance of prosodic phenomena.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to prepare students to successful communication in German. As speakers they will need productive and receptive German standard pronunciation. As future teachers they will be required to explain the pronunciation norm to their students competently and sensitively.
Student " knows and can identify the main pronunciation difficulties in German and their causes " knows the teaching methods of phonetics and phonology and pronunciation exercise typology " is acquainted with setting goals and requirements to learn phonetics and phonology according to the CEFR " knows the most important principles of controlling, testing and assessing of the level of phonetic language acquisition.

Credit requirements: Active participation in seminars, students must successfully complete required tasks, hand in portfolio based on course materials which must be approved by the tutor. Exam requirements: The exam comprises only a spoken part, where students are required to answer theoretical questions and read a text phonetically correct. There will be time given to read and prepare the text. Students are expected to show their ability to apply the gained knowledge in practical use.
