Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the study trip is to gain knowledge of the literary and cultural history of Saxony through the example of travel literature from the 18th and early 19th centuries. In Dresden, a student workshop will be held titled ?Enlightenment Travel Literature based on the example of Johann Gottfried Seume?. In Grimma, students will attend the annual meeting of the Seume Association with lectures by invited authors. This will be followed by a tour of Grimma with an explanation of 18th and 19th-century book culture and the role of publishers (especially Gschen) within it.
the student - gets acquainted with selected canonical texts from the 18th and the end of the 19th century - can understand the concept of the educational journey in the context of Enlightenment ideals - can conduct professional research on a given topic - cultivates their sensitivity to a shared Central European culture and to living culture in general
