Learning outcomes
In the seminar, students will be acquainted with selected phenomena of local and regional literature of northern Bohemia written in German in the 16th through the 20th century (e.g. literature of the Ore Mountains, literature in dialects, religious and secular literature associated with specific places and personalities, literary contributions in local and patriotic press). Attention will be paid to practical ways of communicating this literature to the public (e.g. public reading, literary excursions), including accompanying activities like translation, presentation, moderation, accompanying word, etc. The seminar also includes a literary excursion.
The student - will get acquainted with selected phenomena of local and regional literature of Northern Bohemia - is able to put it in a cultural-historical context An important effect of this seminar is the sensitization of students to this type of (usually) lower literature. At the same time, they will learn to convey this literature in various ways to the (lay) public, or pupils.

To receive credit Students work in groups; based on recommendations or on their own initiative, they will choose a locality (or a topic) with a specific set of texts, ideally shorter formats such as a short story, poem, song, or excerpts from longer genres. Based on these texts, students will design and implement two events: - literary excursion to a place of own choice in the North Bohemian region (papers on historico-geographical, or literature topics ) (model) literary reading (selection of texts; their preparation, including possible translations; rehearsal of the lecture; preparation of the accompanying word; moderation; possibly other presentation options - Powerpoint, etc.) In a justified case, instead of participating in a group preparing a literary reading, the student can prepare a didactization of the selected text.
