Learning outcomes
The concept of ecosystem services was developed in the '90s of 20th century as a reaction on increasing pressure on natural resources (the key importance in this development have ecological economists such as Daily or Constanza). The main purpose of this concept is to express value of ecosystem services for their users and benefits that raise from their societal protection. The aim of this course is to introduce: a) the concept of ecosystem services, b) different attitudes to their valuation and c) the application on case studies. The students will be able to understand the anthropogenic value of the nature, to adopt different approaches of the environmental valuation of ecosystem services and to use this knowledge for the formulation of the regional development.
