Course content
1. Introduction to the aims and requirements for writing of Master works. Planning of presentations. 2. Elements of academic writing I: conception, content amd structure of text, odborný styl, rešerše a práce se zdroji, bibliografical referencing, formal requirements 3. Elements of academic writing II: critical, comparative and close reading, research questions and hypothesis, methodology and analysis, introduction and conclusion 4.-13. Presentations of individual Master works conceptions. Discussions. 14. Closing discussion and instructions for the subsequent subject Diplomový seminář II

Learning outcomes
The subject's goal is to introduce the aims and methods of academic writing. Chosen principles of academic writing are presented in both teoretical and praktical ways. The subject emphasizes application of theoretical conceptions to chosen empirical problems. The subject gives space for consultation and collective discussion of the topic and structure of individual Master works.
Students will understand how to distinguish various conceptions and methodologies in humanities. They will learn how ro evaluate their potential for application to research problems. This ability encourages their scientific creativity and improves their conceptial work with philosophical notions. This way, students will learn how to solve theoretical problems in their Master works. They will be able to interconnect theoretical and empirical aspects of their Master works.

Assessment methods and criteria

Students will prepare a 6 pages long seminar work summarizing the topic, chosen theory and methodological approach in their Master work. The series of seminars is composed of students' presentations of their Master work conceptions. Each presentation is followed by discussion of the given topic with students and teachers.
