Thematic plan of the course is following: 1. Introducing thoughts 2. Introduction into philosophical and ethical thinking 3. Main ethical theories - consequentialist theories 4. Main ethical theories - deontology and ethics of virtue 5. The relationship of ethics and law 6. Moral status of embryo 7. The death as philosophical and scientific issue 8. Ethical codexes and promises 9. Issue of human (Who is a human?) 10. Surrogate motherhood 11. Assisted reproduction and genetic manipulation 12. Contemporary environmental bioethical issues 13. Selected current casuistries from bioethics

|
Kurz je zaměřen na získání základní orientace v tématech současné etiky a bioetiky a aplikovatelnosti etiky na konkrétní témata, jakými jsou například problém náhradního mateřství, morálního statusu embrya, genetické inženýrství a genové manipulace. Kurz studenty orientuje v základních etických teoriích a seznamuje je s historií i současnou podobou této disciplíny, která svou povahou přesahuje akademickou půdu a zasahuje do každodenního života. Smyslem kurzu je nejen představit základní etické teorie a řešení zásadních etických a bioetických otázek, ale ukázat i nejednoznačnost takových řešení a nesamozřejmost přijetí etického systému. Vede k vlastnímu kritickému myšlení, schopnosti formulovat argumenty a vyjádřit vlastní stanovisko.
A student will gain the overview in main ethical theories. He/she will develop the term basis needed for understanding of ethical problems. He/she will be capable of independent argumentation. He/she will develop the ability to understand the texts and discuss and think independently within ethics.
