1) Concept, causes and types of violence 2) Domestic violence and its forms 3) Violence and bullying at school and in the workplace. 4) Manifestations of violence in social interaction and criminality. 5) Crime and punishment 6) The question of the death penalty. 7) Political use of violence. 8) Rebellion, civil war, revolution. 9) State violence, the question of legitimacy. 10) Pacifism. 11) Realism.

Learning outcomes
|
The course will get students acquainted with general overview of the issue of violence. The main topic will be the displays of violence in modern society, such as domestic violence, bullying, sexual violence, crime, political use of violence during demonstrations, the legitimacy of the use of violence by the state, the issue of insurrection, civil war, revolution and war in general. In the course, reading of selected classical texts and their interpretation, presentation of own study results and discussions will be included.
Participation 60%, presentation. Seminar work on the topic of the current political discourse on democracy in the scope of min. 7 pages, using two additional secondary sources.
