Topics: 1. Overview of the development of the political system in the Czech lands after 1918 2. Division of the common state 3. Anti-totalitarian nature of the democratic political system in the Czech Republic after 1989 4. Aspects of Czech political culture 5. Interest groups and mediation of interests (intermediary system and its institutions, social partnership 6. System and development of Czech political parties in the Czech Republic 7. Media as a mediator of politics 8. Constitutional institutions and their role in the political system 9. Municipal politics - local state administration and self-government 10. Foreign, security and defense policy as part of the political system

Learning outcomes
|
The lecture introduces students to the development and institutional form of the Czech political system from 1989 to the present. The interpretation also reflects the historical and social context, in which the changes in the Czech political system took place before 1989. The international context will also be monitored. The development of the political system is also explained in terms of the programming and development of political parties and other ideological subjects.
Student will be obtain the following knowledge and skills: - can characterize the basic phases in development Czech political system in the 20th century - can explain the role of constitutional institutions and theirs functions in the political system - can explain the basic problems of the present Czech political system and political parties - differentiates the main directions of Contemporary Czech political thought - can use scholarly terminology
