Course content
Thematic plan of the course is following: 1. Introduction into philosophy 2. Introduction into ethics 2. Ethic theories overview 4. Epicureanism 5. Utilitarianism 6. Deontology 7. Ethics of virtue 8. Who are we? (Who is a human?) 9. The issue of a person (Moral and legal status of embryo) 10. The death as philosophical and scientific issue 11. Surrogate motherhood 12. The relationship of ethics and law 13. Assisted reproduction and genetic manipulation

Learning outcomes
The course is focused on deeper orientation in topics of contemporary ethics and its applicability on specific current topics which are for example surrogate motherhood, moral status of embryo, etc. Also, the course orientates students in basic ethical questions and introduces them to history and contemporary form of this discipline, which by its character overreaches academic environment and intervenes in everyday life. The main contribution of the course is not only to introduce basic etic theories and solving of essential ethical questions but as well to show an ambiguity of these solutions and uncertainty of accepting of the ethical system.
A student will gain the overview in main ethic theories. He/she will develop the term basis needed for understanding of ethical problems. He/she will be capable of independent argumentation. He/she will develop the ability to understand the texts and discuss and think independently within ethics.
