Course content
The thematic plan of the course: 1. Introduction to philosophy 2. Introduction to ethics 3. Ethical theories 4. Epicureanism 5. Utilitarianism 6. Deontology 7. Ethics of virtues 8. Who are we? (What does it mean "a human being"?) 9. The problem of the person (Moral and legal status of the embryo) 10. Death as a topic of philosophy and science 11. Surrogate motherhood 12. The relationship between ethics and law 13. Assisted reproduction and gene manipulation

Learning outcomes
The course focuses on the topics of contemporary ethics and its applicability to specific current topics, such as the problem of surrogacy, the moral state of the embryo, etc. The course also provides basic knowledge in the most important ethical issues. The purpose of the course is to explain basic ethical theories and solutions to basic ethical issues and also to show the ambiguity of these solutions and the ambiguity of the acceptance of the ethical system as such.
Students will have knowledge of the main arguments of basic ethical theories and will be able to use them. They will also understand the basic ethical issues and will be able to argue.
