Course content
Lecture Topics: 1. consultation: Introduction to the subject: aims, methods, terminology. Specified field of special education: basic characteristics of the field, introduction of the issues of upbringing and education specified by different impairment types. Seminar Topics: 2. consultation: - diagnostics in special pedagogics (model tests), - practical introduction to the types of speech impediments: recordings, videos, - alternative and augmentative communication: introduction to the types of AAC, examples, possible application, - typhlopedy: compensation tools (visit to Tyfloservis), - psychopedy: social education (example of working with manuals for different activities). Self-Study: Logopedy: field knowledge deepening. The study of additional professional literature. Surdopedy: field knowledge deepening. The study of additional professional literature. Learning outcomes
The subject provides basic knowledge from the field of special education. It helps the students to fulfill one of the basic requirements of their future profession as the care after physically and mentally impaired. They will develop communication skills and cognitive processes as well.
Subject Knowledge: Theoretical knowledge consists of special education areas characterizing using the terminology relevant to the topic, describing basic developmental and educational procedures for different kinds of disorders. Students are aware of the empathy towards the clients and their relatives. Subject Skills: Students can suggest improvement to the environment, didactic tools, toys and rules of child's games for different impairment types. Students can apply theory in practice.
