Course content
Exercise topics: 1. Integrated rescue system, crisis management, disaster medicine, legislation, work with AED (automatic external defibrillator) 2. Organization of pre-hospital emergency care. General principles and procedures of first aid, algorithm of urgent resuscitation in adult and child and newborn according to new European guidelines for resuscitation - Guidelines 2015. 3. Head injury. Unconsciousness. Choking. Anaphylactic shock. 4. Injury of spine, joints and bones. Injuries to animals, insects. 5. Injuries to the chest and abdomen. Bleeding. Rival. 6. Effects of heat and cold on the human body. Corrosion. Electric shock. 7. First aid for sudden internal conditions. 8. Dressing techniques, treatment of wounds, stopping bleeding. 9. Immobilization techniques. Positions of the injured. Transport. 10. Crash syndrome. Blast syndrome. Poisoning.

Learning outcomes
The course is designed as a theoretical - practical and is part of a group of subjects based on clinical practice and new European guidelines for resuscitation - Guidelines 2015. Students will acquire knowledge, skills and principles for the provision of general and pre-medical first aid in acute and health threatening conditions resulting from an accident or from a sudden worsening of the disease. Students are acquainted with clinical conditions that directly endanger human life, including specific procedures that lead to their rescue. The course includes knowledge of legal and organizational issues of first aid, disaster medicine organization, emergency care and crisis management.
Expertise: The student demonstrates a broad knowledge of the principles of first aid and urgent pre-hospital care, cooperation and tasks of the individual components of the integrated rescue system according to the new European guidelines for resuscitation - Guidelines 2015. The student demonstrates understanding of , life-threatening states and sudden events. The student demonstrates broad knowledge of the nature of damage to the body caused by the effect of heat, cold and electric current. Professional skills: The student is able to assess the situation and perform basic examination of the injured person, check the basic vital functions of the injured person, recognize symptoms that indicate a serious health disorder. The student is able to recognize the symptoms of various internal injuries, perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to the latest recommended procedures, dressing technique to treat wounds and stop bleeding. The student masters immobilization techniques in joint and bone injuries and is able to put the patient in the necessary position and prepare it for transport, recognize the symptoms of an emerging shock and take anti-shock measures. General eligibility: The student is able to practically use first aid, urgent pre-hospital care and immobilization techniques in joint and bone injuries, and is able to put the patient in the necessary position and prepare it for transport, recognize symptoms of incoming shock and take anti-shock measures.
