Course content
Lecture Topics: 1. consultation: Psychological issues of a disease; relationship between psychosomatics and somatopsychics, auto-plastic picture of the disease; experiencing the disease in time, relationship between the patient and the disease and the categories of the patients from a psychological point of view, iatropathogeny, sororigeny and egrotogeny. 2. consultation: Professional deformation, the danger of burn-out syndrome. Stress. The psychology of pain, anxiety, fear and the feeling of inferiority.Types of disabilities and psychological approach to the clients. Seminar Topics: 2. consultation: Disease as a difficult life situation, communication with the patient, communication within the social network of clients, productive behaviour and its displays. Self-Study: The rules of professional behaviour.

Learning outcomes
The subject is qualified as a clinical discipline which aims at teaching the students the theory especially psychological issues of diseases, auto-plastic picture of the disease, the issues of hospitalisation, the psychology of pain, the types of disabilities and psychological approach to the clients, the death from a psychological point of view and the issues of professional deformation. In practical area the aim is to develop the skills of a client-oriented approach.
Subject Knowledge: The course provides the knowledge which is important for professional dealing with difficult situations during the care for the patient, the impaired or dying clients, it is also important for keeping mental balance of a care provider. Subject Skills: Student can adequately meet the needs of a client and solve disease- related problems.He /she can approach the clients considering diseases and disabilities specifics.
