Course content
Lecture Topics: 1. Basicsof microbiology - action of microorganisms in relation to the locomotor system. 2. Basics of epidemiology - the impact of the spread of infections on the population. 3. Basics of immunology, active and passive immunization. 4. Nosocomial infections and their prevention. 5. Hygiene requirements for construction, technical equipment and operation of medical facilities, 6. Rehabilitation workplace. 7. Disinfection and sterilization; disinsection, rodent control. 8. Nutrition of the organism - vitamins, minerals, lipids, carbohydrates, proteins - influence on the musculoskeletal system. 9. Repetition.

Learning outcomes
The course provides students with basic knowledge in microbiology, epidemiology and hygiene, on the relationship between physical, chemical and biological environmental factors and human organism - population and health effects. It acquaints with the principles of disease prevention, protection and health promotion. It applies general principles of hygiene and epidemiology to healthcare institutions, requirements for their construction and operation, and prevention of nosocomial infections.
Expertise: Student knows basic terminology in the field of microbiology, immunology, epidemiology and hygiene, knows the function and components of the immune system, knows the essence and forms of immunization, knows the etiology of epidemiology and prevention of nosocomial infections, hygiene requirements for construction and operation of medical facilities principles of disinfection and sterilization, principles of personal hygiene of medical staff. Professional Skills: Student is able to read and interpret literature in the field of microbiology, immunology, epidemiology and hospital hygiene applied to physiotherapy and rehabilitation, acquires practical habits of prevention of nosocomial infections, work procedures in providing healthcare from the point of view of nosocomial infections hand washing. He can write a seminar paper on a given topic in the field. General eligibility: Student is practically able to apply the habits of prevention of nosocomial infections, working procedures in the provision of health care in terms of prevention of nosocomial infections, knows the principles of personal hygiene and hand washing procedures.
