Course content
Lecture topic: 1. Philosophical discipline and ethics. 2. Moral theory, contemporary world and morality. Society and moral norms. Traditional ethical principles projected into the professional ethics. Value of the professional activity in the value system of the human. 3. Principles of accountability in relation to a profession. 4. History and present of applied ethics (bioethics, medical ethic). Ethic aspects of a health care profession, contemporary discussion of professional ethics. 5. Codes of Ethics and their acceptation .Patients' rights and their role in the humanization of medicine. 6. Problematic areas of bioethics. Ethic issue of assisted reproduction. 7. Ethic problems in geriatric and palliative care. 8. Quality of life a human dignity, euthanasia and assisted suicide. 9. Genotechnology - clone, stem cells, embryonic research, question of a genetic testing, Ethical questions of organs transplantation. 10. Research in medicine and its regulation. Ethical issues and new technology - fake organs. 11. Ethical issues linked with using alternative medicine, advertisement, the allocation of financial resources in medicine.

The course is conceived as theoretical. The aim is to create basic assumptions for the ability to argue over the ethical phenomenon within the meaning of ,, what it is and what it should be"
Subject Knowledge: Student can define basic philosophical and ethical concepts with emphasis on incentives that influence and contribute to the development of professional ethics of medical staff. Subject Skills: Student is able to explain current ethical codes used in the health sector, which are subsequently concretized in discussion and in individual project on selected issues of ethic in health care.
