Course content
Seminar topics: 1st consultation: Compensation aids, their selection and application. Architectural barriers, their removal. Areas of work of occupational therapists, cooperation with physiotherapists, overlapping competencies. Self-study: Study of materials of the Czech Association of Occupational Therapists, principles of application of compensatory aids, evaluation of environment, principles of comprehensive rehabilitation of persons with disabilities.

Learning outcomes
The course introduces students to the problems of occupational therapy. Students will gain knowledge about the profession of ergotherapist, his position in the rehabilitation team, his examination and therapeutic methods. Students know the importance of evaluation and training of self-sufficiency, usage and prescription of compensatory aids. They will become acquainted with the assessment of the environment and the quality of life of people with disabilities. Student knows types of activities and organization of work in ergotherapy workshops.
Expertise: To understand the position of occupational therapist in health care and social services, within the rehabilitation team, to influence the situation of people with disabilities. Professional skills: Ability of empathetic attitude and adequate communication with the client depending on his health and life situation. Ability of cooperation between physiotherapists and occupational therapists when working with clients, application of aids, hand rehabilitation.
