Seminar topics: 1. Hygiene of work - goals, methods of work, realization in practice. 2. Physical, chemical and biological factors in the working environment, their impact on health and prevention. 3. Health risk assessment, hazardous work, medical preventive examinations. 4. Hygiene of work in individual activities within physiotherapy. 5. Physiology of work; Physical, sensory, mental stress at work. 6. Ergonomics - goals, methods of work, ergonomic programs. 7. Handling of loads, ergonomic principles of working place adjustment. 8. Diseases from long-term excessive unilateral burden (DNJZ) and their prevention. 9. Intervention programs and health promotion in the workplace.

Learning outcomes

The course is designed as theoretical. Students will be acquainted with the evaluation of working conditions, physical, chemical and biological factors of the working environment of their impact on health, evaluation of health risks, work categorization, basics of work physiology and ergonomics, evaluation of physical and sensory workload and principles of health protection measures .
Expertise: Students know the ways of identifying factors of the working environment and their impact on the health of workers, health risk assessment, work categorization, health protection measures for workers. Students are acquainted with the basics of physiology of work, evaluation of physical, sensory and mental stress at work and impact on the health of workers, principles of adjusting jobs and adapting working conditions to physical and psychological characteristics and abilities of employees. Students will learn about ergonomics, principles of proper handling of loads and preventive measures to protect the musculoskeletal system and prevent diseases from long-term excessive unilateral load (DNJZ) and ergonomic principles of adjusting jobs and adapting working conditions to people with reduced working ability. Professional skills: Students are able to evaluate health risks during work, especially to design ergonomic programs and appropriate preventive measures to protect health, especially during individual activities within physiotherapy and appropriate arrangement and adjustment of work place for people with various handicaps. General eligibility: The student is able to practically use the knowledge of ergonomics in individual indication areas of physiotherapy, and is able to make independent and responsible decisions in only partially known contexts on the basis of a framework assignment.
