Learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to understand the basic principles and development tendencies of the functioning of the European Union, including issues related to the Czech Republic after its accession to the EU. The course builds on lectures in economic theory. The course is deliberately situated in the 5th semester so that students can understand the EU in other contexts from the topics of the courses they have previously taken (macroeconomic, microeconomic and regional scope). The course ends with a written test.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to - summarise the history of the development of European integration - describe the functioning and decision-making mechanisms in the EU - assess the impact of the EU economic policy on the Czech Republic - evaluate the current EU agenda - use professional terminology related to the EU in English
