Course content
1. Distribution of chemicals in the environment: parameters of the Environmnetal Compartment Model (Mackay), thermodynamic description and data sources 2. Atmospheric deposition (wet and dry), equilibrium of rain droplets with acid gases 3. Solubility of gases 4. Solubility of solids and liquids in water 5. Solubility of gases with subsequent chemical reaction - CO2 and the origin of carbonates 6. Distribution of contaminants in soils and sediments 7. Model of bioaccumulation in food chains 8. Degradation processes of chemicals in environmental compartments 9. Kinetic model of biological waste-water treatment 10. Non-equilibrium distribution of chemicals in the environment - diffusion 11. Landfill leaching, examples of remediation procedures 12. Summary: data, models and estimation methods for calculating the distribution of contaminants in the environments 13. Seminar project 14. Consultations to seminar project
