1. Classification of separation methods in analytical chemistry. 2. Principles of the chromatographic separations, distribution functions. Factors affecting the efficiency of separation, retention and separation characteristics, description and interpretation of chromatogram. 3. Liquid chromatography, HPLC. Stationary and mobile phases in HPLC, selection of chromatographic system, detectors in HPLC. Instrumentation and experimental arrangement, calibration modes. Typical applications of HPLC including IC. 4. Gas chromatography, stationary and mobile phases in GC, selection of chromatographic system, detectors in GC. Instrumentation and experimental arrangement, calibration modes. Typical applications of GC. 5. Principles of electromigration methods, main modes (CZE, ITP, MEKC, CEC, chip electrophoresis). Experimental arrangements, detection modes. Selected applications. 6. Advanced detection methods, hyphenated techniques, GC/MS, LC/MS, CE/MS etc. 7. Sample preparation, preconcentration techniques, practical aspects of trace organic analysis in environmental protection.
