Course content
Lecture Topics: 1. Introduction to legal issues, concept of law, creation of legal norms. 2. System of laws in the Czech Republic. Constitution, Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms. 3. Harmonization of Czech and EU legal norms and their relation to health care. 4. Family, Social Care Act and Social Services Act 5. Social security system in the Czech Republic. 6. Responsibility for health care. 7. Labor Code - Basic Provisions. 8. Criminal law and its foundations. 9. Offenses in the area of health and the basics of the law.

Learning outcomes
The subject informs about law and legislation and introduces valid legislation related to the system of health and social services, rights and duties of health professions, patients / clients and state administration bodies. It includes areas of professional legislation in the work of a nurse.
Expertise: Students understand the basic legal terminology and gain orientation in the legal system of the Czech Republic. They will understand the relationship between the legal system of the Czech Republic and the EU and the relation of legislative and executive power in the system of health and social care. They have an overview of the system of legislation and deeper knowledge in selected areas. Professional skills: Students are able to orientate in the social field of law for the benefit of the patient. They are able to recognize and identify legally problematic situations in medical practice, while performing the profession of midwife. Competences: Student is able to apply acquired knowledge to occupational therapy practice.
