Course content
Lecture Topics: 1st consultation: History of ergotherapy in our country and in the world. Current situation of occupational therapy, education system. Therapeutic and comprehensive rehabilitation. The status and organization of people with disabilities. The concept of occupational therapy, the area of occupational therapy. Choosing and practicing activities that the ergotherapist uses with the patient. 2nd consultation: Ergotherapy examinations. Helping technician. Pre-work rehabilitation. Client Environmental Assessment. Application of occupational therapy in common diagnoses and disabilities. Types of equipment in which occupational therapists work. Seminar Topics: 1st consultation: Compensation aids. Disability simulation. Assessment of barriers in residence and public building. Examination by an ergotherapist. Working with case reports. 2nd consultation: Positioning. Work with ergotherapy documentation. ADL - Testing and Training. Working with case reports. Self-study: List of medical procedures in occupational therapy and physiotherapy.

Learning outcomes
The course is designed as a theoretical - practical subject, it is the subject of the profiling base of the study program. Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to acquaint students with ergotherapeutic expertise, its history, overview of knowledge and skills that ergotherapist should manage and areas and institutions where ergotherapist can apply.
Expertise: The student understands the position of an occupational therapist in health care and social services, the content of his work. They will get acquainted with the situation of people with disabilities in society. Professional skills: The student is capable of empathic attitude and adequate communication with the client depending on his health condition and life situation. They can obtain information from the client and from the documentation. They understand basic knowledge of how to set ergotherapeutic goals. Competences: Students are able to apply their theoretical and practical knowledge in their clinical practice.
