Course content
Topics of lectures: 1. The value of art and handicraft activities in occupational therapy 2. Activity analysis 3. Analysis of activities - practical examples 4. The influence of work on the human body 5. Use of therapeutic techniques in group occupational therapy 6. Basketry - use of pedigree, wicker, paper. Indications, contraindications, health and safety. 7. Use of paper - choice of paper type and technique. Indications, contraindications, health and safety. 8. Use of textile material - traditional handicrafts, work with textiles and other techniques. Indications, contraindications, health and safety. 9. Work with dough and other substances - salty dough, use of clay, fimo materials, etc. Indications, contraindications, health and safety. 10. Working with wire - wiring, jewelry production. Indications, contraindications, health and safety. Use of available materials in occupational therapy. Exercise topics: 1. Knitting from pedic (baskets, decorations) 2. Knitting from alternative materials (eg paper) 3. Work on a sewing machine - use of Patchwork technique 4. Hand sewing - toy production (use of basic stitches) 5. Basics of knitting and crocheting 6. Processing of salty and Vizovice dough 7. Production of ceramics (use of clay and self-hardening material) 8. Wiring (braiding of containers and other materials) 9. Jewelery production (basics of knitting) 10. Use of other material in the production of jewelry (fimo, paper, fishing line)

Learning outcomes
The course is designed as a theoretical and practical. The analysis of individual activities will make it easier for students to decide on their use in practice. These are mainly art and handicraft activities, students must know their possible therapeutic effect, ways to motivate the client to implement them, safety principles, the possibility of using thermoplastic splints in occupational therapy, including their application in patients and the production of individual aids.
Expertise: The student demonstrates knowledge of the principles and procedures for the application of specific therapeutic techniques in occupational therapy. Professional skills: The student is able to explain the principles and procedures for the application of specific therapeutic techniques in occupational therapy. General competences: The student is able to choose a suitable technique with regard to the age and diagnosis of the patient according to occupational therapy examination.

Credit: 80% attendance at classes, production of compensatory or didactic aids for use in occupational therapy, its presentation. Exam: written test.
