Self-study: The use of modern technologies in the world - research, issues of senior age, ergotherapy in geriatric clients with a focus on dementia, Parkinson's disease, rheumatic problems.

The aim of the course is to provide theoretical foundations of modern communication technologies that can be used in occupational therapy with regard to selected diagnoses of senior age. The subject of using modern technologies in the therapy of geriatric clients is complemented by subjects: ergotherapy in geriatrics, internal medicine and geriatrics or rehabilitation of cognitive functions. Ergotherapeutic intervention itself for selected issues of geriatric clients will be appropriately supplemented by the possibility of using modern communication technologies.
Expertise: The student demonstrates professional knowledge of occupational therapy intervention for selected diagnoses of senior age with regard to the possibilities of using modern communication technologies. In connection with this knowledge the student will understand selected diseases. It demonstrates a broad knowledge of the nature of geriatric issues, on the basis of which it can adequately complement interventional processes using modern technologies. Professional skills: The student is able to apply basic principles of ergotherapy in geriatric clients, which is complemented by the use of modern technologies with regard to age, gender, diagnosis, etc. Competences: The student is able to apply theoretical knowledge of using modern technologies in practice. They are able to characterize the function of the chosen technology and describe the results of the intervention itself. They are able to independently and responsibly choose individual types of modern technologies as complementary activities in occupational therapy.
