Course content
Lecture Topics: 1st consultation: Introduction to the subject - aims, content, importance of social policy. Definition of the term. Mechanisms of social policy making, basic functions and principles of social policy. Social security - goals, functions, development, pillars of social security. Health Policy - Goals, Health Systems, Health Financing in the Czech Republic. Seminar Topics: 1st consultation: Continuity of health and social services with a focus on people with disabilities. Self-study: Czech Social Policy - Social Security Policy and Health Policy. Current problems of social and health care. Current social policy in the EU. Legislation of the Ministry of Health and Social Security. The Strategy of Social Policy in the Next Period (Visions, Reforms, etc.)

Learning outcomes
The subject acquaints students with social policy, focuses on health care, social security, social care and help. The aim of the course is to understand the basic concepts of health and social protection of citizens, to get acquainted with target groups of social care, with the organizational structure of social services and with valid legislation. The focus is on the social protection of people with disabilities.
Expertise: Graduates of the course can enumerate the mechanisms of social policy making, define social security systems, health care and social services. care. Professional skills: They can use their knowledge and design practical solutions to social problems with respect to a particular case. General knowledge: The student is able to apply the acquired knowledge in occupational therapy counseling.
