Course content
Seminar Topics: 1. consultation: Introduction to the subject: goals, content, the importance of social policy. Terminology introduction. Social policy tools, basic functions and principles of social policy. Social security: goals, functions, development, social security basics. Health care policy: goals, systems of health care, financing of health care segment in the Czech Republic. Interconnections of health and social care services to improve the quality of the total health care with the focus on people with health disability. Self-Study: Czech social policy with the focus on social security and health care. Actual problems of social and health care reforms. Actual social policy in the EU. Legislation of the department for health care and social security. Social policy future: (vision, strategy, reforms and others.)

Learning outcomes
Subject makes students familiar with the subject of social policy. It focuses on the area of health care and social security policy, social care and help. The goal of this subject is to understand basic terms from the field of health and social security of citizens and to familiarize a student with target groups of social care and organizational structure of social services and valid legislation.
Subject Knowledge: After completing the course students can name social policy tools and can define the systems of social security, health care and social care. Professional Skills: They can use their knowledge and suggest practical solutions to social problems regarding a particular case.
