Course content
Lecture Topics: 1. Keeping occupational therapy documentation. 2. Occupational therapy for people with visual impairment. 3. Occupational therapy for people with hearing impairment. 4. Deafblindness. 5. Possibilities of training of self-sufficiency of patients with combined sensory disability. 6. Personal assistance in a patient with a combined disorder. Exercise Topics: 1. Keeping occupational therapy documentation. 2. Occupational therapy for people with visual impairment. 3. Occupational therapy for people with hearing impairment. 4. Combined sensory impairment - possibilities of ergotherapy, compensatory aids, socialization. 5. Possibilities of training of self-sufficiency of patients with combined sensory disability. Personal assistance in a patient with a combined disorder. 6. Excursion to Tyfloservis.

Learning outcomes
The subject is conceived as theoretical-practical, it follows the introductory chapters in ergotherapy and lectures in psychology and special education. Students will gain knowledge about the use of ergotherapy in this field and the possibilities of activities purposefully chosen with regard to physical and mental aspects. It emphasizes the complexity of treatment and cooperation with family and school.
Expertise: The student demonstrates knowledge in the field of ergotherapy for clients with sensory disabilities. It demonstrates knowledge of individual therapeutic procedures, therapies and methodologies. It demonstrates broad knowledge of the implementation of short-term and long-term plans for clients by type and degree of sensory disability. It demonstrates knowledge of the level of knowledge and skills of clients in the field of cognitive, gnostic, executive, ADL, IADL according to the type and degree of their disability. It demonstrates the knowledge of individual institutions dedicated to supporting clients with sensory disabilities. Professional skills: The student is able to orientate in compensatory aids for both hearing and visual impairment, is able to determine short-term and long-term ergotherapeutic plan adequately to the type and degree of disability of the client with respect to his age. Competences: The student is able to perform a comprehensive ergotherapeutic examination for a client with sensory disabilities focused on the level of cognitive, gnostic, executive functions, ADL, IADL, is able to determine and implement a short-term and long-term ergotherapeutic plan adequately to the type and degree of disability of the client with respect to his age.
