Course content
Lecture Topics: 1. Introduction, terminology, basic definitions. Psychiatric rehabilitation. 2. The position of the occupational therapist in the team. Importance and benefits of occupational therapy. 3. Application of ergotherapy in extramural and intramural care. 4. Methods and techniques of ergotherapy in psychiatry. 5. Examination, testing in occupational therapy in psychiatry. 6. Objectives of occupational therapy during the patient's hospitalization. 7. Goals of occupational therapy in rehabilitation and after hospitalization. 8. Application of ergotherapy in community care. 9. Occupational therapy in facilities providing social health services (eg Mental Health Centers). Seminar Topics: 1. Reform of psychiatric care in the Czech Republic. 2. Ergotherapeutic initial examination. Development of short-term occupational therapy plan. 3. Planning of occupational therapy intervention. 4. Occupational therapy intervention according to patient / client diagnosis. Case reports. 5. Therapy with an individual. 6. Working in a group of patients / clients. 7. Ongoing, output evaluation of ergotherapy. 8. Processing of long-term ergotherapy plan 9. Group presentation of the project and active participation in the subsequent discussion.

Learning outcomes
The course is conceived as theoretical - practical. It builds on courses in Psychiatry and Psychology. Emphasis is placed on functional diagnostics, examination of the patient / client, including the planning of occupational therapy with regard to diagnosis. The course also introduces the community care system. Emphasis is placed on the use of occupational therapy counseling, occupational ergotherapy and employment, including ADL training.
Expertise: The student can describe ergotherapeutic procedures in work with psychiatric patients. They can define the position of an occupational therapist in a multidisciplinary team. Professional skills: The student is able to carry out ergotherapeutic examinations, planning, intervention and final evaluation of individual psychiatric diagnoses. Competences: The student is able to work with patients with psychiatric diagnosis within their occupational therapy competence.

Assessment methods and criteria

credit: 80% attendance at seminars. Elaboration of individual casuistry project of a client/patient. Ergotherapeutic intervention design. Group presentation of the project and active participation in the following discussion. exam: oral exam from thematic areas according to the teacher's assignment.
