Course content
1. Introduction to heritage conservation. 2. Legislative framework of monument care in the Czech Republic and the European Union. 3. The National Monument Institute and its role in the protection of cultural heritage. 4. Immovable monuments and the issue of access to them from the point of view of monument preservation. 5. National Cultural Commission. 6. The beginnings of monument care. 7. The issue of dating works of art. 8. Current trends in cultural heritage protection. 9. History of monument care ? movable monuments. 10. Current care of movable monuments. 11. Professional excursion to an expert institute. 12. Professional excursion to the NPÚ.

Learning outcomes
The one-semester course contains a basic overview of the history of historic preservation and basic methodological approaches, including medallions of personalities. The second part of the lectures is focused on contemporary monument care (legislation, structure of monument care and its activities). In part, the lectures will be held in the field and are oriented towards current issues - restoration of monuments, architectural and historical research, issues of saving and protecting movable property and immovable cultural heritage, their records, etc. The output of this course is a written work. The very end of the course is an exam in heritage care.
The gained capabilities constitute an encompassment and an aquirement of knowledge and experience in the subject and are aimed at a profile´s fulfilment of the graduate of the given field of study.
