Course content
1. Current design situation. Methodology and interpretation. 2. Current terminology and classification of design fields. Design, applied art, craft and art design. 3. Curatorial practice within collection and exhibition institutions focused on design. The educational potential of design. 4. Design as an important economic tool. Marketing strategies of producers and design entities. The role of the state in support of design. 5. Environmental, social and ethical aspects of contemporary design. The issue of sustainability. Responsibility of the designer. 6. Forms of presentation and exhibition activities related to contemporary design outside collection and exhibition institutions. 7. State of the current theoretical discourse in the field of design. 8. Media presentation of contemporary design. Shows and exhibitions of contemporary design. 9. Social, visual and psychological effects of mass production; luxury production and its interventions. 10. Significant personalities of contemporary design. Design studios, companies, non-profit institutions focused on promotion design, commercial showrooms. 11. Contemporary literature, internet resources, collection and exhibition institutions and occasional events focused on design.

Learning outcomes
The subject Contemporary Design II is a continuation of the subject Contemporary Design I. It is primarily focused on explaining the role of design in the functioning of contemporary material and visual culture, in which design plays an important role due to its increasingly difficult definition and boundlessness. Emphasis is placed on curatorial practice and theoretical reflection within the field, including social, gender, pop-cultural and environmental contexts.
The gained capabilities constitute an encompassment and an aquirement of knowledge and experience in the subject and are aimed at a profile´s fulfilment of the graduate of the given field of study.
