The course focuses on conveying basic information mainly from the field of Western Euro-American gender and feminist theories, which from around the middle of the 20th century have investigated the processes of destabilization of the homogenous category of male and female gender identity in order to speak critically about dangerous social and gender stereotypes. The course is based on basic terminology: gender (gender as a social and still preforming construction), gender studies, queer studies, women's / men's studies, biological determinism, essentialism, gaze, body politics, patrilineality, patriarchy, misogyny, transgender, androgynous , a cyborg. All these terms are reflected primarily in the context of the development of world and Czech visual art from the second half of the 20th century to the present day. The course focuses on creation and curatorial concepts in which the issue of gender comes to the fore, and on those periods of the 20th century when gender-related discourse was a key aspect of social and artistic events.
