This course systematically deals with both world and Czech visual culture over past for decades. Comprehensive presentation combined with interactive programme of seminars represents a survey of current tendencies and thought streams in visual art, including reflection of the ascending postmodern art (both abroad and at home), as well as the dominance of photography, videoart, and "new media" in the 1990's and at the threshold of the 21st century.
The student is capable of active discussion on history of visual arts from 1945 to the present. They are able to correctly analyze the art trends and movements specific for the period, to interpret their main representatives and key works. Further, they have a grasp of how to formulate an abstract of a scholarly text. They can characterize artistic forms and representatives of the period.
