Course content
Lectures for postgraduates concentrates more on deeper identification of changes of relationships between Czech and Czech-German literature which took place in the time of growing nationalistic tendencies in 19th century. The aim is to present them as one of most important factors of influencing the nature of modern Czech literature and culture. The changes are also observed in new conditions after the creation of Czechoslovakia. The second block of lectures will be dedicated to a Czech-Polish relationship which started to develop most in the ear of National revival attached to an idea of Slavonic reciprocity. The attention will be especially paid to Dobrovský and his research findings; to the process of integration of Polish literature into the Czech context; to the Polonistic activity of Václav Hanka; to the perception of Polish romanticism in the Czech environment; to the Czech-Polish contacts in the time of modernism and the period between world wars. The third block of lectures picks its interest in Lusatia, on the issue of Czech participation at Lusatia-Serbian national movement. Lectures will be focused on the interest of Czech scholars in the Lusatia-Serbians and their ethnographic and cultural personalities of 19th and the beginning of 20th century; further on in Czech share on shaping of Lusatia-Serbian literature.
