Course content
1.-2. The concept of culture, definition of cultural studies (culture as an adaptation system, personality-society, culture, politics, power ...). 3. Culture and society-development and relationship to society, illustration on example of the development of art in society, socialization of contemporary art (public art). 4. Cultural history - familiarization with leading authors - reading of key passages, e.g. The myth of the eternal return, Mircea Eliade 5. Cultural literacy in education - cultivation. 6. Defining the concept of art-forms of art, aesthetic distance. 7. Movements, periods, streams. Cultural terminology in education. 8.-9. Culture of Middle Europe. 10. The term of facts and ways of its understanding. 11. Show-business, media, internet. 12. The concept of culture in the world, term of globalization. 13. Recapitulation of seminar's topics.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the seminar block is to deepen cultural literacy. Students understand the importance of cultural tradition. They are being acquainted with various spheres and forms of culture, with historical development and theorteical models of culture understanding. Further the explanation is focused on a specific cultural institutions in relation to the current topics, encouraging the discussion. The seminar also notes the influence of media, ideology, censorship or globalization. Emphasis is placed on the specifics of the Central Europe cultural area, as well as on the relationship between culture and education.
Students will learn the culture, and cultural terminology. He understands the concept of cultural studies, understands the relationship between the individual and society, the concept of cultural capital, etc.
Prerequisites
knowledge of the field on the level of GCSE exam knowledge of disciplines connected to the central domain of study knowledge of appropriate terminology
